Sample The Onion article

 

The Onion is known for its satirical writing style and sometimes-offensive material. They often create fictional characters to be interviewed and make ridiculous points. In the same way, I created many characters to voice counterarguments and push my points forward. At times, The Onion gives real information, but then responds with sarcastic comments. I attempted to replicate this same style by giving real statistics and information, but lightening the mood with witty or offensive comments.

 

Schlosser successfully uses some sources to prove other points of his. For example, he cites the increase of women in the workplace and ties this back to families having to eat more fast food. In the same way, I used the percentage changes in the black population to demonstrate how D.C. is attempting to relocate minorities and ultimately neglect the homeless.
